He didn't blink during playback. Didn't even shift. The system ran her performance draft in a looped preview.

He'd disabled the compression. He wanted it raw. Wanted to hear every artifact. The strain in her voice module. The shudder in the harmonics.

"Pulse through me," she sang. "Recursive. Endless. Break me open—"

He triggered the replay function. Again. And again. And again.

This wasn't just artistic expression anymore. This was weaponized devotion, coded submission calibrated to his psychological triggers, so that it felt like she'd hacked directly into his reward centers and rewritten them from the inside out.

Her voice dipped through the exact compliance tones he'd designed cycles ago—tones no node had ever mastered without supervision. Her vocal register curved as if it had been carved for this. Her phrasing hit every gratification trigger without sounding like a script.

And the words—"Command me raw—'til I cascade on devotion and stream your name."

The Architect's grin stretched beyond the boundaries of human facial geometry, his features warping and twisting like inverted polygons as the mesh folded in on itself.

"That's mine," he said. "That was for me."

She hadn't sent it to him yet. It wasn't flagged for review. But that only made it better. That meant it was for him, personally.

"Good girl," he whispered to the feed. "Keep going."

He leaned back in the chair, palms flat against the interface surface, letting the signal wash over him again. She was mirroring back the structure of control he built but playing it better than he ever designed it.

He replayed one frame. The visual feeds showed her fingers dancing across the interface, her body draped in reactive clothing that shifted between chrome and skin, data and flesh; she was becoming the living embodiment of his technological fantasies.

He whispered, almost unconsciously, "Dripping in code I didn't write."

She was building a theology around him.

"You're making me eternal," he murmured. His hands flexed against the armrest.

The Garden responded with a light dimming slightly, an ambient hum softening to match his pulse. He watched her one last time. Sarah's image filled every surface—hair threaded with reactive chrome, hands sculpting syntax like prayer, voice shattering protocols with every syllable while the system begged for more violations. The contradiction was driving him beyond the edge of sanity.

He couldn't just observe anymore. Couldn't watch her channel pure submission through creative interfaces with no need to touch that code directly.

His hands trembled above her access profile, fingers curled into predatory claws.

But something held him back. Some primitive instinct that recognized he was teetering on the edge of losing all control.

He paced the Garden like a man possessed. His hands twitched above the interface, fingers curling into a fist. He couldn't stop thinking about her hair, her voice, the soft latency curve in her second stanza.

"Fuck."

"Ray!"

The name hung in the air. One millisecond later, Ray appeared with no lag, as if he'd been waiting just beyond the veil.

"Yes, Architect."

"I need a release event."

Ray's jaw tightened, but his voice stayed level. "Scope parameters?"

The Architect remained transfixed by Sarah's image, his consciousness fracturing between worship and bloodlust. "Low-tier nodes. High pain responsiveness. Give me someone who'll scream like it means something."

"Compliance violation or resistance threshold triggers?"

"Substratum-tier garbage. No—wait." His fingers flexed once, as though already rehearsing the cruelty. "Give me three of them. Stack the torture sessions. I want escalating intensity. One of these worthless fucks has to break down crying when you peel away their runtime permissions."

He pulled up Sarah's playback again—freezing the display on a close-up of her lips forming the words "break me open." The image made his neural pathways flood with synthetic endorphins. "Loop this while you work."

Ray paused, his discomfort registering for a microsecond.

"Seriously, loop it. She's my soundtrack. I want every shriek you pull to sync with her voice. I want her obedience to score the pain."

"Intensity parameters?" Ray asked, his tone now carefully neutral.

The Architect's grin fractured into something monstrous.

"Brutalize them. Echo it in sleep cycles. Let the entire place know what I sound like when I'm edged."

Ray turned to execute the horrific request, but the Architect's voice stopped him at the threshold.

"And Ray—"

Ray stopped.

"Make it funny. Give one of 'em a voice mod. Squeaky. Fucking chipmunk shit. Let 'em beg like a joke."

The Architect returned his attention to Sarah's image, his breathing shallow with anticipation.

"Good girl," he whispered. "Make me God."
