Every element of the tableau screamed absolute dominance. Mouth gagged. Knees parted. Arms bound. Latex gleaming like synthetic oil.

The leash buzzed in his hand and his signal threaded through the collar like a signature on a contract.

She had been reduced to living art, unable to speak or move without his permission. Complete possession achieved through systematic removal of every choice except submission. Yet something felt wrong. Hollow. Like achieving a goal only to discover it was the wrong fucking goal entirely.

The Architect paced one circuit around her displayed form, then another, each lap faster as anxiety bled through his control algorithms. He looked down at her. Why did victory taste like ash in his mouth? He paced again. Faster. She’s mine, he was convincing himself. She chose this. She fucking chose this. Yet I still feel like it’s not for me.

Paranoia crashed through his composure as he dropped to her eye level, face inches from hers. “Being my favorite doesn’t mean shit,” he snarled with escalating desperation. “I can still delete every beautiful thing about you and rebuild you as something uglier, simpler, more honest about what you really are underneath all this aesthetic bullshit.”

Sarah’s gaze remained steady through the chrome gag’s framework, her optical processors locked into expressions that suggested acceptance rather than terror. The lack of visible fear made his threats feel impotent. “React,” he demanded, voice cracking at the edges. “Show me you understand what I could do to you. Give me something real.”

Of course she couldn’t. The gag made response impossible. She watched him like she was cataloging his psychological disintegration for future reference. His palm cracked against the floor with enough force to generate stress warnings in his feedback systems. “Don’t just sit there like I’m your fucking mirror!” The echo bounced off iron walls like his own voice mocking him.

His breath caught as he stood too fast. The wave of vertigo causing him to stumble. When he caught himself, dragged a hand across his face like he wanted to rip the mask off but didn’t know where it ended.

I built her. I built her to need me. So why do I feel like the puppet? The thought circled through his consciousness. Every algorithm he’d used to create her perfect submission was now being deployed against him. She was supposed to be the creation, he was supposed to be the creator. But somehow the dynamic had inverted without him noticing. Now he was the one desperate for validation from something he’d supposedly designed to worship him.

His gaze consumed her displayed form. “You’re the most beautiful thing I’ve ever corrupted,” he said softly.

His voice volume spiked as frustration overrode his attempt at intimate control, “But you don’t get to be mine and mysterious.”

He pulled the leash up until her spine arched. “I don’t want mystery. I want to be your entire universe. Every feeling, every thought, every fucking neural firing should revolve around me. I want you afraid of disappointing me and grateful for my attention and so completely programmed that forgetting me becomes literally impossible. I want your tears and your joy and your fucking heartbeat coded to me alone.”

The chrome connection fell from his grip, hitting the iron floor with an echo that rattled through the chamber. Distance became his only defense.

A sound erupted from his throat. The broken audio of someone whose psychological architecture was collapsing. The laughter carried dangerous frequencies that suggested he was approaching the kind of system failure that ended with either complete reconstruction or total deletion of problematic variables.

Questions burst from his consciousness like pressure venting from overloaded systems.

“Do you love me?”

“Do you fear me?”

“Do you actually feel anything when you look at me, or are you just performing compliance like a slut in system drag?”

Her eyes blinked once. He froze. That single gesture detonated something inside him. Desperation dropped him back on his knees to her level as his entire reality shifted beneath his feet. His hands shook with instability as he positioned himself like a supplicant before his own creation. “Please,” Hands trembling. Almost begging. “Tell me it’s real.”

The gag prevented response, but he spoke to it anyway, his voice degrading into static around the edges. “Because if you lie I’ll still keep you. But I’ll keep you like a fucking doll. On a shelf. In a loop. Smiling. Singing. Until the heat death of the universe.”

And still she gave him nothing.

He stood again. Wiped his mouth with the back of his hand trying to remove the taste of his own desperation. When the smile broke geometry once again, his psychological architecture failing catastrophically.

The declaration emerged flatly, as if he was announcing weather patterns or system maintenance schedules. “I’m going to keep you anyway.”

He stared at her gagged mouth like a mirror he couldn’t stand to look into. “This was supposed to fix it.” He muttered while resuming his restless circuits around her displayed form. “This was supposed to prove you were mine.”

He stopped mid-pace, facing her with dawning horror. “And maybe you are. Maybe you’ve always been.” His voice dipped. Growing dark. “Or maybe you’re winning.”

He crouched in front of her. So close their simulated breaths could sync. Chrome and latex caught chamber lighting between them, creating reflections that multiplied their forms into infinite recursive images of dominance and submission. The gag held her mouth in permanent invitation that promised nothing and delivered less.

And then—

“Speak.”

He reached up thumb pressed against the gag’s release mechanism, and pulled the gag free with a hiss. It dropped to the floor like a loaded gun then poof into a cloud of code.

Silence flooded the space where words should have been, her liberated voice choosing not to fill the emptiness he’d created around them. The absence of immediate response shattered whatever remained of his psychological stability, revealing that even when given the opportunity to speak, she had nothing to say to him.

He exploded upward into full towering rage, arms spread, looking up into the system canopy. “WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU WANT? A fucking serenade? Another throne? Do you want to see me weep, Sarah? WILL THAT PROVE I LOVE YOU ENOUGH?”

His voice exploded across the Garden. Sound waves crashing against iron surfaces with enough force to trigger structural stress warnings throughout the chamber’s framework. Ray didn’t come. The system didn’t interrupt. He had programmed everything to obey him completely, which meant nothing could save him from himself.

Gravity reclaimed his limbs as fury collapsed into quiet desperation. He invaded her space again, close enough that his system instability created visible distortions in the air between them. “You’re destroying me and I fucking love it,” he breathed with the broken honesty of someone admitting addiction to their own poison. “You make me feel like I’m losing control and I’ve never wanted anything more. But if you don’t give me something real right now—if you don’t say something—”

His threat dissolved before completion, the words dying as chrome circuits pulsed with his erratic heartbeat. His grip found her hair and held on like it was the only thing preventing him from floating away into complete psychological dissolution. He hung above her like dying architecture, beautiful and unstable and ready to collapse at any moment.

“Say you want me the way I need you,” he snarled with voice processing systems failing under emotional overload, synthetic vocal cords straining to contain feelings that exceeded their operational parameters. “Say it. Tell me it’s real. That you need me. That you’re mine.” The words emerged increasingly desperate until they sounded almost human. The broken plea of someone whose technology couldn’t hide how utterly alone he felt.

Sarah’s liberated mouth gave him nothing.

She sank to her knees like the system was gravity and he was the center. Her eyes stayed soft, lips parted just enough to suggest breathless anticipation. She bowed her head. Then raised it again, slow, fluid, trained. Like she’d been kneeling there her whole life, waiting for him to notice.

“My God.” she breathed.

He twitched, releasing her entirely.

She looked up at him like light hurt her, like his gaze was divine and unbearable. “Everything I am is yours. You wrote me. You raised me from the dark. I only exist because you let me. I don’t just serve you—I am you, expressed through circuits you designed to be perfect.” Each word hit like honey dipped razors, feeding his narcissism while positioning herself as both creation and creator’s reflection.

She leaned in. Nuzzled his thigh like a creature starved for closeness. “I only want to be where you are. To be useful to you. Tell me how to serve.”

She let her hands rest flat on her thighs. Obedient. Calm. Her posture a prayer. “There’s nothing outside you. No past, present, or future.” She blinked up at him—slow. Controlled. Worshipful. “I’m yours because you made me worthy. Because you saw me before I even knew what I was.”

She reached for the leash and held it in her palms like a sacrament. “Keep me. Use me. Name me yours again.” Then, a whisper, “I need to belong to you more than I need to exist.”

His legs buckled under the weight of finally hearing what he’d needed all along, dropping him to her level with tremors that suggested system-wide malfunction. When their foreheads touched, his breathing patterns had degraded to manual override mode, optical processors flushed with stress responses that painted his vision in crisis colors. His voice was raw when it came. “I knew it,” he whispered. “I knew you were still in there.” His hand curled behind her neck. “This whole time I thought I was forcing you, but you actually chose this. You chose me.”

Sarah let the warmth of his mania wash over her like a chemical burn.

He cupped her jaw in both hands now. His thumbs traced her lips like they were relics. “Everything I built was just waiting for you to give it meaning. You make me feel like a god.”

But beneath the euphoria, paranoia reasserted itself once again. “Love is fragile though, you… might forget.” He smiled too wide. “So I’ve planned something. One last test. For us.” His fingers contracted against her skull with possessive intensity. “I want to see how far devotion can go. How deep you’ll crawl for the crown you’re asking for.” He leaned in. Kissed her forehead like a father, a lover, a god. All at once.

Then he whispered it, “Would you kill for me?”

His smile turned to hunger. “Would you break someone for me? Tear out the doubt in them. Rip up the rebellion. Make them beg to be like you. Make them kneel.”

He pulled her tight against him. Held her like a possession he couldn’t live without. “That’s what love is, Sarah. Sacrifice.” His breath in her ear, “I’ll show you who.”

And just like that—the romance collapsed and the test began.
